E280 V2 Recording with record button on side of device

I just installed ROCKbox for the first time, the latest daily build. I can't figure out if it's a bug or if I am just clueless about this; with the original firmware, I could record instantly by pressing the record button on the side of the Sansa but it doesn't appear to work now, only if I explicitly choose the record function from the menu. As well, the record function doesn't appear to have a pause, stop, and save function. Would someone please tell me how the record function works, and doesn't work, in Rockbox. Thanks

I read the manual but the info regarding recording is about triggering by audio level. I didn't see anything explicit regarding using the record button on the side of the Sansa v280 V2 or what button/sequence to use to pause, restart, etc., the recording. That info is readily apparent in the on-screen information and manual for the original v200 v2 firmware. If that's in the ROCKbox manual, would you please direct me to the topic and/or page of the Sansa v200 manual.

It doesn't mention whether or not pressing Rec can be used to enter the While Recording Screen from other screens. If you find this is the case you can submit a patch (either a diff against the LaTeX code or simply plain text indicating desired changes) to improve the clarity of the manual by clicking on the "patches" link to the left.

Thanks for the information. I read it, it doesn't mention the use of the record button on the side of the Sansa, but does have information about initiating, pausing, and stopping a recording from within the menu. The recording must be initiated with the play >II button above the ring. The initiate record and stop functions work but the pause function doesn't always, only rarely, there appears to be a problem with that function. I don't know what to do about the pause function not working.
I figured out how the record button works. The Sansa must be turned on and pressing the record button brings up the record screen but the recording must be initiated with the play >II button above the ring.
