Largest possible drive?
« on: June 25, 2010, 03:39:51 PM »
Hello, I currently have an iAudio X5, which can fit any single-platter hard drive. I am trying to look around for the largest possible drive to fit this. I purchased an MK1634GAL, but it only works for iPod Classic players. Are there any Samsung or Hitachi ZIF drives that are above 80 GB that are single platter? Price isn't too much of an issue, just that it can be used as a hard drive. Thank you.

EDIT: I found this:
http://www.thegadgetdr.com/Samsung-HS12YHA-120GB-Ultra-ATA-100-ATA-6-4200RP-p/cp-hs12yha.htm

Is 3600 RPM too slow?

UPDATE: I am happy to report that this drive works with the original iAudio X5 and works like a charm :). A little slow on huge transfers, but it works great for a few albums transferred at a time with write caching. :)

Nice!

Just for clarification; the x5 does not use ZIF.

But all of that is shown on this link: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/HardDriveReplacement

There's a ZIF-to-ATA adapter by libmart.co.kr that is $24 shipped that makes it compatible.
