Track skip delay?

I just installed the latest version for my Sansa e280, upgrading from I think version 3.2 to 3.6, and now there is a noticable delay when skipping multiple tracks in a row.  I noticed it happening with 3.2 from time to time, and the older versions never seemed to do it.  Is this an option I can disable?
