Suggestion, Sansa Clip+, turn off unessential, use extra pwr 2 run 100% clock

Hi,

Firstly a very good day to all Rockbox Admins, developers and forum members. I have a suggestion that if possible, could be used to improve playback quality and accuracy for the Sansa Clip+. Just so you know, I'm not a programmer and am Not in the IT field. My suggestions are based on previous experiences with audio devices (sound card)

Now, we all know that an audio device compromises of a processing chip, circuitry and controlling software (firmware/driver). Based on my previous experience with Creative Sound Cards, turning off unessential circuits/features actually gave me better RMAA results.

There was a modded driver called Kx Driver for Creative Audigy & SBLive series, in this driver, there is an interface which allows you to select the "routing" available/used on the device. In this routing interface, i actually disabled all recording and loopback features, and actually gained SNR from around -90dB to -100dB.

What i turned off was the Input (for mic & line in), and also on-CHIP DSP features, like EQ, Reverb, Compressor etc etc. Also turned off the Firewire and Optical output ports.

I dont know if it's possible, but if this could be done to the sansa clip+, turning off FM, turning off Mic and other non essential circuitry, from the firmware, could it be possible that it would safe some power?

And in audio, the less "circuits" that are running, the better quality the audio would be, due to less interference. I also THINK that it should consume less power, and possibly, this power could be diverted to the AMS clock to run at 100% accuracy for 44100hz playback. Since this is the only way it could improve playback (running a re-sampler to 48000hz would be ridiculous). I also believe that this will eliminate the ticks, pops, clicks and hissing which is sometimes appearant in the Sansa Clip+.

As i said, i'm no coder and not in the IT field, but have a passion for music. Hopefully if this COULD be implemented, Rockbox would look into it, and create an Audio Playback only version of rockbox for players, focusing on sound quality and accuracy. Instead of inserting more and more "processing" in the way of the music...

Also, just a question, all those DSP effect in the Sound Settings, when they are "off", are they really off? is the audio doing a 100% DAC-Line Out pass-through?

All unused devices that we know how to turn off are switched off.  Leaving things on for no reason would be stupid because it wastes power.  You don't need to suggest not doing this.
