FuzeRock+ ... Any Suggestions?

(1/2) > >>

Avalon:
Hi.  I recently posted a new theme, FuzeRock+, which I put together for my own purposes.  I like to shuffle my album collection in large playlists, so I have displayed current and next selections with track, artist and album for each.  The album art size and placement allows the full screen width for track and album without scrolling.

RockFuze+ contains quite a few functions, but some may like some modifications.  If you would like an update, please reply with the changes.  If time permits, I will post a revision.

In summary, the following is contained in FuzeRock+:

1. The theme uses backdrop FuzeRock+.bmp which can be replaced with any backdrop.  Dark or solid black is preferable to contrast with the icon color.
2. Volume is displayed as an icon with level in dbs.
3. Battery is displayed as an icon with % remaining.
4. Sound icons displayed; Equalizer, crossfade and crossfeed.
5. Playback icons displayed; repeat and shuffle.
6. Playmode icons displayed; stop, play, FFWD, FRWD, Rec.
7. Source device icons displayed; spinning disc, radio, microphone.  The disc spins as per the playmode.  The rpm is limited in the menus due to a display refresh cap.
8. A progress bar is displayed with total and current times.
9. A hold icon is displayed when active.
10. Disc/flash access is indicated by RockBox changing to white.
11. Time, day and date are displayed at the top.
12. The sleep timer replaces the date if activated.
13. The mps contains all of the above with current and next selections (track, album and artist), album art (if available), the active playlist (name, size and current track #) and some track detail.
14. 1 to 12 are carried through to all non wps screens with the only change being the source device displayed.
15. In the non wps screens the current and next tracks are displayed and toggled with the artist.

In putting together the theme, I came up with a couple of minor points:

1.  In 3.6 the progress bar appears to follow the FM frequency in FM mode, which is a little bothersome when the actual freq is not available.  Hopefully, that will be included in future revisions.

2.  In the 3.6 simulator I found that when the hold switch is on, moving the scroll wheel turns on the backlight.  However, 3.6 does not do this in hold mode.  When jogging or in the gym with the hold switch on, it would be nice to move the scroll wheel to turn on the display now and then....just a thought.

Suggestions for a theme revision are welcome.

The progress bar behavior was changed to follow the FM frequency as part updates to allow the FM radio to be  themed using a wps_name.fms file.  A current frequency tag is available as part of these same updates.  More information on the FM Radio tags can be found in the wiki: CustomWPS#FM_Radio_tokens

Avalon:
Thks for the comment....I wasn't aware of the fm tags.

I will have to think about how to display this in the common panel.

If the FM mode is selected and you are listening to the radio, does the progress bar display the FM freq range and current position in all screens?  I display the radio icon in the common panel on all screens if it is selected.  It would be nice to display the freq range and current station the same way.

Avalon:
I have modified my theme to display the FM frequency, frequency range and stereo/mono.  This displays great on all screens using the sbs.

Thankyou for pointing this out to me!

I have tried using the RDS tokens and can't get them to work...Rockbox and simulator crash when I try to display the RDS name (%ty) or text (%tz) in the sbs.

I am using r26753-100610 on a Fuze V1 and was wondering if these tokens have been implemented in that or the current release.  Are they only available in the fms?

The FM Tuner hardware in the Fuze does not support RDS.
