Big Problems With RockBox
abc123xyz:
Hi iv been running rockbox on my ipod video 30gb for a few weeks now and it's been ridiculous trying to get data on it with out corruption.
8-10 times i put something on ,it's garbage ,it just sounds like garbage or plays the first few secs or just half the song and the it freezes up ,goes back to main menu.
It doesn't matter the format it's happened with flac and mp3 ,i defrag the disk enabled directory catch which was advice i had got from this forum before but lost my info ,nothing has worked.
I had this firmware installed long before but never had these problems ,i uninstall it because i really wasn't using flac at the time and i was too use to classic ipod firmware.
Later on after the uninstall of the first rockbox it wen't good everything back to normal but like 3 or months later i got this black steak across my screen ,i didn't care much nor do i know if it's related to rockbox but i thought i should bring that up ,it's not that bad i got used to it.
I just wan't to play all formates of music without problems ,im not sure if i may have done something wrong when installing the firm ware ,i have always done it manually and noticed the new installer but said al just do it the old fashion way.
Any suggestions on what i could do to fix it or what i may have done to cause this?

It sounds like your file system is badly damaged. Have you taken steps to repair it? (chkdsk, for example)
abc123xyz:
No i didn't do that and it seems my vista can't recognize chkdsk D: /f in (win+R)
Is it possible to do this in rockbox? The regular ipod has something like this that gives you a sad face or something.
saratoga:
No, you need to run it on a PC.

Sounds very much like the iPod's file system is seriously corrupted. You really need to reformat and restore via iTunes, then re-install Rockbox.
