unable to install rockbox on Sansa Fuze V2
hawk66:
trying to install rockbox on Sansa Fuze v2 using a laptop running Win7 64bit. Installer will not autodetect player and since Win7 doesn't assign it a drive letter I get mountpoint error cuz I can't direct it to the device. Can't extract files to it for the same reason to load manually. Any ideas? or do I have to round up a pc with Vista?
saratoga:
The current release of rockbox utility can't install on the fuze v2. You'll need to either grab an SVN build from the sticky in this forum, or follow the manual install directions.
funman:
Also to transfer files, you need to change the setting in "Settings -> System Settings -> USB Mode" to "MSC" in the Original Firmware.
hawk66:
set the USB setting correctly and am able to start installation but get an error while I'm installing. Error as follows.
"
Downloading bootloader file
Download finished.
[ERR] Expected model name "fuz2" in C:/Users/RONCOL~1/AppData/Local/Temp/qt_temp.uR1028, not "fuze"
Could not load C:/Users/RONCOL~1/AppData/Local/Temp/qt_temp.uR1028"
Honestly I'm new to this so not quite sure what you mean by SVN build. According to what I've read on the website the SANSA Fuze v2 is "stable" so guess I would have thought it would work.
Did some additional searching on SVN--Not too sure if I want to trust an SVN to not screw up my player. MAybe wait for future release from Rockbox? Sansa Fuse is pretty popular
bluebrother:
The Fuze is not the Fuze v2. You selected Fuze as player, which can't work on the Fuze v2. Also, Rockbox Utility and Rockbox are released independently. It's up to you if you want to use an svn build of Rockbox Utility (I do it all the time, besides, a new release is coming up so svn is almost if not completely identical to what the new release will be).
