I am looking for a unit for high quality recordings. Does anyone know what bit depth the sanzas and ipods support?

The Sansas don't even have line in.

IIRC the ipods do 16 bit.

It isn't out yet (a couple of weeks or so)

But it is probably going to be quite good.

Maybe this can be brought into The Rockbox assimilation programme at some point in space time continue..um.

If you can find them on ebay: iriver h120/h140/h320/340. The first two have both optical and analog in/output, the last two only analog. Internally, the ADC is 20 bit I think, externally 16bit.
