Sansa Fuze V2 Bricked?
Chronon:
Thanks for the info. That's considerably longer than the PP-based Sansas.

Had the same problem. It took 3 days to fully discharge. Sorry.
If you want to know if it still has juice, just plug headphones and if you hear a clic it still has juice.

That's right, it's quite difficult (impossible?) to open it without breaking at least one clip but it can still be put together after.
Of course waiting for the battery to dry is longer, but nicer to the case.
Rob2222:
Had the same problem with a 80-90% charged fuze2.
Took 2 days for the battery to empty.
As already mentioned, plug in the headphones.
If you hear no disortion, it is empty and you can recharge it.
I switched it on then, it started and before it could shut down cause the empty battery i plugged in the USB cable.be
So just let the battery go empty and all will be fine. :)

I am glad to have found this post, it saved me from prying open the case. I had tried the extended hardware reset mentioned above and elsewhere but even a three minute attempt did not do any good. Three days of discharge did.
In case it is worth mentioning, the way it got into this state is when I plugged in the USB cable. I had not let Rockbox fully boot. I believe it was still at the boot version screen prior to the Rockbox version screen prior to the menu. It went black as it normally does before the OF splash screen but it just stayed black without any light on the ring.
Thanks.
