BoxAmp Theme Discussion [H300, Fuze, iPod Color/Photo]
« on: June 05, 2010, 05:01:59 PM »
Theme back up!!
IF YOU HAVE ROCKBOX 3.6, DOWNLOAD FROM HERE

Hi, this is a theme based on Winamp Classic. While it attempts to retain the look, all graphics have been created from scratch (to avoid possible copyright issues)

Recently I have updated it to solve a few issues:
-Updated to new wps code grammar
-.SBS added
-Russian character support in WPS
-Theme flipped out when changing songs (displayed images in strange orders until songs were fully loaded)
-Added a simple volume bar for .SBS use (such as the radio screen)

TO-DO:
-Non-English tag support
-Changing some text in images into viewports, so they can be translated properly
-FM Radio screen
-Spruce up the Playlist screen
-Perhaps, some form of charging indicator for the battery

I am still deciding on what the layout of the FM radio screen should be. If you have any ideas or opinions, go ahead and post them.

!!NOTE!! FONT PACK REQUIRED FOR BEST RESULTS!!
The theme was tailored for a specific font, and things will look plain wrong if the font is not present. The font is 12-Fixed-SemiCond.fnt.

Note: requires anything newer than Build r26727 (3.6 is not good enough anymore!!)

If you would like to port the theme to another resolution, be my guest. I will warn you that it is a considerable undertaking, as nearly every graphic will need to be re-made. If you need help on understanding how certain things work, go ahead and ask.
making this harder is the fact that I lost the .psd file for this theme...

Nice. If you are going for the winamp look why not put a playlist in (either the sbs, or when no AA is shown)... have a look at the %Vp tag

Will do. I think I'll go for the .sbs, since there isn't very much room for one in the WPS. Perhaps there might be if this were on a target with a larger screen.

if you do put it in the sbs make sure you use conditional ui viewport (%VI(label) ) so it isnt wasteing space when no music is playing

Right now the theme is missing, because I need to update it to the new format. Standby while I do so...

Auuugh, that topic title is a bit misleading. Shouldn't "iPod Video" be "iPod Color/Photo"? :-\

You're right. Sorry.

(I do intend to put it on the Video though, eventually...)

Now that I'm working on a 320x240 version, I will make everything bigger. What is a good font to use? I'm looking for something along the lines of a 14 height font or such. Does 14-Nimbus look good to you guys?

[320x240] port = awesome. :)

My personal taste doesn't really run toward 14-Nimbus, but that's just me. If you want my opinion, I can picture 14-Sazanami-Mincho looking pretty good on this version.

As I apparently can't send private messages to you, I'd like to note that on the latest build of r28187 I can't get album art to work correctly with this skin specifically. When the album art appears, it appears for a split second and then changes to black. I've tried this on various albums with differing sized files, and each one is the same result. Other built in themes don't have the problem however, narrowing it down to this specific theme.

I love the theme, Winamp is my favorite media player for many reasons, and I hope you see this. I'm currently on a Fuze v2 by the way!

Thanks for any help :)

You will be able to now, you need a non-zero post count to send PMs.

Haha, nice. I poked around at the theme and found that the source image for the wps with art has a black box where the album art should go. I assume that at some point the builds changed layering or something, so this no longer works as is. Guess I posted too soon and probably should have tried fixing it myself first >_>
The fix (For anyone else out there!): You'll need to replace batitlesart.bmp with one that has the art box transparent, such as this one

You'll have to convert it to a .bmp in MSPaint or something though, most image hosting websites disallow .bmp.
Sorry for bumping an old thread to only solve the problem moments later, but at least I added some kind of content :P

Edit: This causes the old UI to leak in when you leave the wps screen, as the album art disappears. I also noticed the song position bar is covered too. How did this all happen...?

The real fix needed here is to make sure that there are no overlapping viewports, or, to in fact draw the AA in a viewport other than the "default viewport" (fullscreen).

Your edit suggests that this "fix" simply causes further graphical glitches, making sure viewports work in harmany with each other and that there are no overlapping elements is a major part of making a theme "just work".

EDIT: Didn't I already send you a version where I updated the viewports here GooD Ol TarviS?
I seem to remember working on this theme before now...

If i load it , when i run Amarok theme, and i go back, the theme take boxamp font color and some other setting. It's Amarok theme problem or Boxamp problem?
This is an issue i've by ever, and i had it in many r28xxx versions, r28300 too.
