Shortcut menu
« on: June 03, 2010, 11:28:21 PM »
Hi,

I just got a Sansa Clip+ and Rockbox'd it almost immediately.  It is most excellent, although it is less user-friendly than I expected.

I read multiple posts saying that custom menu orders and buttons are out, and the Quick Screen is pretty useless, but would there be other ways to access oft used features faster?  All I want is Database, Now Playing, and occasionally Settings.  I never use Files, FM Radio, Recording, etc.

Basically I just want to access my music by album, and change my settings quickly, as I use this for the car and on headphones.  I've created cfg files so I won't blow out my ears by leaving the volume on max after leaving the car, but have no current way to change profiles quickly.  Would it be possible to have a Shortcuts menu entry?  The order in that could be user defined and Rockbox could be set to boot to it, which could mimic a custom Main Menu...  Currently, browsing through shortcuts under Files requires as many button presses as going to Settings to load a cfg.

Also, why is customizing the Quick Screen disabled?

Thanks!

Seeing as your player has volume buttons, I think using cfg files isn't needed?

Not possible.

the quick screen is customisable.... hold select on the setting you want to put on the quickscreen.

Thanks for the quick reply,

Well, its not just the volume, I need to turn off crossfeed when using car speakers and I might find a different EQ for the headphones...

I had read your comments on the menu structure, so I understood that was essentially a nodo at the moment.

I tried following the Quick Screen customization according to the instructions, but holding the select button doesn't allow me to add things to the Quick Screen... older forum posts claimed this was disabled except for crossfeed, which I still can't set, but there's nothing current posted that I could find.  Is this an issue unique to the Clip+ port perhaps?

not all settings are allowed on the quickscreen. go into settings > sound settings, highlight volume and hold select. I tried that on my clip+ to verify the button needed

Yes, I can confirm Volume and a select others are allowed... Why aren't others allowed?  Are Quickscreen settings stored in a way that I could edit it to point to other specific menu items?
