Mid Song Gap or Drop Out
« on: June 02, 2010, 01:50:01 PM »
Hello,

This is my first post to Rockbox.  My apologies if this question has been covered.  I have a 60 gig, IPOD classic color photo.

I downloaded the latest release as of 1.10.10.   First let me say I love this product.   My only challenge is that there has been multiple mid song gaps that pop up upon play back.  It sounds similar to the 2 second gap that you might get between tracks, but this is occurring regularly mid song.  I've checked the sources files and they are perfect.  I am loading mainly FLAQ and SHN files to the IPOD, but the same is occurring on WAV files as well.

Thank you for your time, knowledge and suggestions.

Pretty sure this was fixed months ago.  Update and see if its fixed.

And in the future please don't ask for support until you've updated.  We don't support old builds.

See another thread in this section on flac files giving someone problems.  I had the same issues as you on a 5G iPod.  I upgraded to version 3.6 and didn't solve the issue.

The suggestion was to enable Directory Caching, which I found in the Settings area.  After a re-boot, I am running beautifully.

Try that.

Hallo.

I recently upgraded to Rockbox stable 3.6 on my Ipod Video 5.5G. After upgrading I have gaps when playing almost any type of file (mp3,ogg,flac).

I previously had FLAC playback gaps with stable 3.5, which was then resolved in 3.5.1.

I have enabled directory caching. I have also changed the anti-skip buffer to 15 seconds instead of the default 5. I have even completely uninstalled Rockbox (even bootloader) and reloaded it again, this has also not resolved the issue.

Would it help to upgrade to the latest version? Anyone with any ideas?

I fixed the playback gaps by installing stable 3.5.1 again. Will keep the file in a safe place :)
