Rockbox for Sansa Clip vs a hundred hours of id3 tag editing
« on: June 01, 2010, 01:40:54 PM »
Hi:

  I have a Gigabeat F40 and a Sansa C200 for my personal Rockbox use--wonderful.

I want to give a couple of inexpensive mp3 players to the kids of some friends of mine with children's spoken word.  It's hard to find a Sansa c200 v1 and now just hard to find Sansa e200s.

I ordered a couple of Sansa clips and I see that the release is for advanced users. My spoken word material works really well with Rockbox: I can group authors, it will play tracks in order etc.

These kids will just be going from one spoken word kids selection to another. If I can put Rockbox on, it will simplify matters greatly.

I've been working with the Sansa native id3 tag system and it's sooooo cumbersome and soooo difficult to make anything play in order.

So do you think I can get away with giving them a Sansa clip with Rockbox?

I would greatly appreciate advice from anyone with  experience with Rockbox and the Sansa Clip.

Thanks,

Tom

It will depend which version you get.

For me the Clipv1 works fine, there has been frequent crashes in the past but I think they're not very probable now.
I think the only missing feature is voicing

The Clipv2 works fine too except annoying noise that can be heared at low volume, but the port for this model is more recent so less tested.

Hi:

That's good enough for me. I'll try installing it tonight.

  Thanks for your update!
