Rockbox on a Blackberry?

(1/1)

jerrygofixit:
Hey guys!

I'm looking to use my Blackberry 8130 as a standalone MP3 player since I've recently gotten a new phone. I wanna wipe the OS and see if I can just load some other firmware on it and use it as just an mp3 player or maybe a video player if possible. It's a pretty weird thing to do I know, and there's probably few other people that would ever want this but nonetheless, is there a way it can be done? If not, does anyone know of any alternate OS for the Blackberry that might do this? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Yeah, I am in no way a developer whatsoever. I just wanted to know if it had been done or if there was a readily available alternative OS. I searched the site and didn't come up with anything.

Well its not on our list of devices with rockbox ports, and you're not working on it, so I guess you're stuck with the stock firmware.

Not completely, I figured out there's at least a few supported linux distros that I can use but they all cater to full phone use, rockbox has worked well on my Sansa but I guess I truly didn't expect there to be a Blackberry port since having just an mp3 would essentially remove all phone capability, unless you dual boot. If anyone has any other recommendations I'm all ears.
