Make text files open in the editor by default?
« on: May 18, 2010, 08:15:11 PM »
Is it possible to have the text editor open text (.txt) files by default instead of the text file viewer?  As it is, I'm using the "open with" option to open them, but it would be more convenient if I could just click on the file and have it open in the editor instead of the viewer.  Is there any relatively simple way to configure Rockbox do this?

I apologize if the answer to this question is already available elsewhere.  I have searched, but if I overlooked it, I'm sorry - just point me in the right direction.  Thanks much.

It's been a long time, but I think your answer lies in the viewers.config file.

Thank you, yes it does.

In the .rockbox/viewers.config file I deleted the lines that say:

txt,viewers/viewer,1
txt,viewers/sort,-

and changed the line that says:

txt,apps/text_editor,2

to

txt,apps/text_editor,1

I'm not sure if all of those changes were necessary or even made sense, but it did work.  Thanks again.
