Gigabeat touch pad touches itself.

(1/1)

Klips:
Not literally, of course.

But still the fact remains that when I am playing a song (even when I have it on hold it seems), the song randomly starts over, then still, it goes to the previous song, and then the previous song still. This wasn't happening 5 hours ago. Nothing dramatic happened to my gigabeat in the last few days. Admittedly, it is held together with duct tape, as the faceplate constantly falls off. Could the touch pad have shifted in some way that its pressing on the touch pad? It looks centered to me, so I don't think this is possible, however I am not ruling it out as a possibility. I believe this is a hardware problem, seeing as I re-installed rockbox (Latest stable build) and the problem is still occurring. Any suggestions?

PS. I am using a gigabeat F60

Chronon:
Yes.  I would guess that inconsistent/uneven pressure is leading to sporadic, unpredictable button-press events.  I have an older F40 whose clips don't keep it very tight anymore and I notice that if I have it inserted in the dock it will detect spurious button presses due to uneven pressure from the face plate.  You could try bending the face plate outward slightly to alleviate pressure.

Klips:
Ay, it would seem that when I press on the case around the button, the song changes. Seems you are correct. I will get on fixing that as soon as possible.  Thank you.
