Replacement H120/40 Screen?
« on: May 13, 2010, 10:13:21 PM »
Someone on ebay is selling an h120 with a broken screen, claiming the player still works perfectly using the remote. Does anyone know if it's possible to replace the screen, and if so, where could I buy the replacement screen? I'd love to have a rockboxed h120, so if it's possible I might bid on it...

I have a broken H120 here but I have lost the Torx wrench needed to open it.  According to the wiki, it seems likely to be this item: Epson S1D15E06.

LinusNielsenFeltzing: The Epson data sheet seems to be it. The current LCD driver is based on it, and it works very well.

This seems to be the driver chip, not the screen itself.  Your best bet would probably be to find another broken H120 with an intact screen.  However, I can't guarantee that it's easy to swap these from one to the other (not having opened mine for a couple of years).

Would you be willing to sell me your broekn h120? (providing its not the screen that's broken) and if so at what price would you sell it? (I am UK based btw)

Actually, I would like to repair it for use as a portable recorder.  I am 90% sure it's the power regulator and/or capacitors that have/has blown due to wrong charger being plugged into it.  If i can swap this out and get it working again I would really like to do that.

You could try asking around on MisticRiver.  It's a hardware forum dedicated to iriver players.
