Can I help?
« on: May 12, 2010, 06:29:16 PM »
Hey Guys, I love Rock Box (although I cant use it...  >:( ) Ive had some fun with it on the Emulator. And hearing how this project is based on voluntary work, Id like to help. I may need some training (but I have some know how of programming)...Is there any way to join "the cause" (AKA The rock box development team)?

People are always more than welcome to pitch in!

Rockbox is written in C, with little bits of ASM here and there, so to work on Rockbox itself you will need some knowledge of C.  Other than that, follow the links others gave, set up a build environment, and jump in!

Of course there are other things too: http://daniel.haxx.se/blog/2008/01/14/what-can-i-do-for-rockbox-when-not-programming/

Just as a note, it is a simulator, not an emulator.

Well, it is in fact quite different. C++ does have a lot of features C doesn't have (classes, templates, etc), so programming C is quite different. However, C++ does also support C syntax, so you can compile (almost) every C code with a C++ compiler, and write a C++ program that is in fact pretty much C. So depending on your knowledge it might be more or less different. No reason to refrain from looking into it though :)
