Moodbar implementation
« on: May 11, 2010, 10:26:07 AM »
Hello,

I hope you guys know about Moodbar. It's explained here: http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Moodbar It'd be nice to see it in a theme as progress bar.

Thinking about implementing it, I have a few ideas. I guess it'd be heavyweight and battery consuming to calculate it on the fly (and possibly cause latency between tracks). But it'd be better to generate these things on computer. It'd be troublesome in every way; we'd need either a script to browse Rockbox library and create a moodbar image for each song, or iTunes like client would create them when uploading to mp3 player. It's not a must-do, but nice to have it as a cool feature.

Thanks in advance.

If you don't otherwise use album art, and name each image "songname.jpg" or "songname.bmp", AND specially code a WPS around it, I think you can do most of this already.

I imagine something like this:

|------moodbar-------|
|-----progress bar----|

Or if you get creative you may be able to overlay the progress bar over the moodbar or something.

I used to use Amarok and was intrigued by the moodbars, but never really got anything out of them. Also, I'm too in love with album art to go without it. It's an interesting idea though.
