Backlight Fail

(1/2) > >>

MU4L:
Firstly, allow me to apologise if this is the incorrect forum for this thread, but I couldn't decide which one would be appropriate.

Basically I've just upgraded my iPod 5th Gen to the 240GB MK2431GAH drive and installed an iVue Clear Panel as well. This, after very happily going about my business for the last 3 years with the 60GB stock drive and a build from 2007. After installing the new test bootloader (which works well - many thanks Torne), Tuesday's build and re-instating my configs and presets I found that the backlight would only work for a short while until ceasing to respond to any button press/scroll. In daylight, this is a mere hinderance, but at night ... well, you can imagine!

I tried to change the backlight settings when it happened, but to no avail. The only way to regain the backlight is to turn the unit off and then on again. After trying to reproduce the situation, I find that the backlight will remain on for as long as it is in use from the start screen. As soon as 5 seconds has elapsed (the time I've set the backlight to go out after the last button press when not on charge) between button presses, that's it, the backlight refuses to come on again until the unit is restarted.

P.S. Before I hit 'Post', I downloaded and installed today's build, but still no luck.

NiHaoMike:
Try installing a stable (release) version.

I don't think thats possible for his player.  Support for big disks was added since the last release.

MU4L:
Yesterday I tried the 30GB (32MB) build too, with no luck, before reverting to the 60/80GB (64MB) build (again, no luck).

Could it be something to do with my config file, which I was made in 2007? Perhaps there are settings in there that have become redundant in subsequent Rockbox releases and the commands it's asking are messing with the system?

As you can see, I'm clutching at sraws here  ??? ...

soap:
Have you tried it yet without the .cfg file present?  It seems like an easy check.
