Jack connector interrupt
« on: May 04, 2010, 05:21:54 PM »
Hi,

I'm using rockbox on an iPod nano2g, and there's a little feature I miss from the proprietary firmware.

When I unplug the phones' jack connector, the original firmware pause the player.

Is there a chance to see that feature implemented on rockbox ? I assume that all ipods does now this kind of jack interrupting.

This feature already exists in Rockbox. It may be that it's just not yet supported on your player because of its status as an incomplete port.

lano,

The feature you talk about is indeed implemented in the Nano2g, and as far as I know...all iPod ports.

It is highly possible that you simply do not have it turned on, I don't mean to sound harsh but perhaps reading the manual could have helped in this case.

You need to be looking at this setting on your Nano2g:

Settings/Playback Settings/Pause on Headphone Unplug/Pause on Headphone Unplug/

From here, you want to set it to "Pause and Resume" in your case.
You can also select the duration (if any) to rewind on resume, and disable auto-resume on startup if the phones are not plugged in.

Here is a direct link to the portion of the manual that explains this function in detail...

I hope this helps.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

Thanks.

You're totally right, I should have RTFM.

btw, that means two things :
 - RockBox (and its ports) is an accomplish solution,
 - the community is active and helpful, thanks again.

I've found the "pause on headphones unplug" feature to be very useful, but it really needs one minor addition: To pause when the headphones come out of my ears, too.

Well, I'm slightly serious in that it really would be useful, but I'm aware that it would be impossible to implement.
