Sansa e280r CRITICAL PROBLEM
« on: May 01, 2010, 07:39:03 PM »
Hi there people, SansaLOVER here, I have a Sansa e280r (Rhapsody) and I recently installed Rockbox onto it. I followed all the steps correctly (I'm sure), but after a system reboot, it's still the original Sansa e280r firmware!!! Anybody have a solution to this problem? Please help ASAP, I really wanna use the awesome Rockbox! Thanks!

Sounds like you skipped one of the steps somewhere.  I would start over from the beginning, this time taking care to do everything.

If it still doesn't work, post in as much detail as possible exactly what you did and maybe someone can spot what went wrong.

well, there was one part where after installing the new hardware, the e200-manufac-driver.zip part, where I put the player in manufacturer mode, then installed the new hardware with the above file mentioned. However, the last line it did say or rather last sentence was "release hold and press any button to shut down" but I don't think it said Firmware Unlocked...

Then maybe you should keep trying until it does rather the skipping that step.  Unlocking the firmware sounds like kind of an important thing to do.

It sounds like you didn't install the bootloader, because that's what gets Rockbox running.

Never mind, I just found out that although the back of my Sansa says Rhapsody, it isn't a rhapsody player since it doesn't have the rhapsody channel in the main menu. So, I tried installing Rockbox with Rockbox Utility and now it works!!! Thanks all through, for your consideration to help! Thread Closed.
