ipod video 60g 5gen / automatically restart

(1/1)

skateboardin:
I used rockbox 2 years on my H320, and rockbox is a very usefull and outstanding software to control MP3.

But H320 doesn't have enough hard disk space, than I buy a second hand Ipod video 60g.

Today is my first time to use Ipod. The original  ipod soft control looks normal, looks nothing problem with hardware. But rockbox often automatically restart or no response, when I chose "general setting" or "file" in main menu. And I usually can't regular shutdown my Ipod, usually automatically restart rockbox when I long press play button to shutdown.

I install rockbox by Rockbox Utility complete installation, and battery is good. Is my second hand Ipod broken? But original  ipod software control looks normal. So weird! Or I miss some step when I install rockbox? please help me~ I really really want to use rockbox!!!

Thanks for everyone read my article, and my poor English! OTZ

Can you try this test build: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=24376.0
and report whether you still experience problems? I'm not sure if it will help you or not, but it may narrow it down.

skateboardin:
I tested r25434(ipodvideo/ipodvideo64mb.zip) and 3.5.1(ipodvideo/ipodvideo64mb.zip) total 4 files :'(Problem still persists! I cover the folder ".rockbox" direct!

Sometimes I can correct shutdown, specally when I playing music. But rockbox often automatically restart or no response when I select the following options: "Files", "Resume Playback" at main menu,  "Browse theme files", "Fonts" and "Language".

Serial No. of my Ipod is 8k607720TXL. thanks :)

torne:
Those options are the ones which, when selected, will cause the hard drive to need to spin up. This suggests your battery is failing, and the voltage spike from disk spinup is too much for it. But, if it works in the Apple firmware, maybe not.

Sorry, not sure what else you can try.

skateboardin:
Thank you for your help!

Battery may have issues and my ipod is second hand. I will follow your method of testing guidelines, and report. But only for the battery take some time.

Thank you very much again! OTZ
