Wouldn't a solution to be to set a very, very short idle poweroff, so stop and resume actually happen (therefor getting the rewind on resume)?

Llorean, that might be a solution, however although the "Rewind Before Resume" option is listed in the manual, it is not available on the playback settings menu, and adding that line to the config file is ineffective. Perhaps this has changed in the week or so since I installed it. 

Does anyone know if the idle time power off will function when set to less than one minute, say .2 minutes?

"Rewind Before Resume" was only added last Saturday. You need to be running a build newer than r25706 for the option to be available.
