Rewind Duration on Pause Sansa e250 v1

I'm using a Sansa e250 v1 with car adapter mode on for audiobook listening. It is plugged into the car through a griffin itrip fm transmitter & charger.   I deliver pizza and frequently start and stop my car.

The manual lists "rewind duration on pause" as a config file option.  This setting is not listed elsewhere in the manual, nor is it available through the menus.  Adding it to a .cfg file is ineffective.

Whenever I start my car I want the player to resume the file a few seconds before where it left off.

I'm not completely certain about this, but I think it's specific to players that can detect when the headphones are unplugged and it's used in conjunction with that setting. As far as I know that setting is only available on some (if not all) of the supported iPods. It's likely that the config file options list in the manual is not specific to the individual players and is used in all of the manuals since the settings also shows up in the manual for my DAP (iriver H10 20GB) and I know neither of those settings exist on my player.

Of course, I might be wrong, but I would suspect that if the setting isn't listed anywhere else in the manual, doesn't show up anywhere on your DAP, and adding it manually doesn't work, than it's likely it's an unsupported setting for the Sansa e200 series.

I think the setting you are looking for is called "Rewind Before Resume".  You can change this setting by selecting Settings->Playback Settings->Rewind Before Resume.  The setting values range from 0s to 60s and add an entry to .rockbox/config.cfg similar to this:

--- Code: ---resume rewind: 10
--- End code ---

jeremyt:
Ok, I tried resume rewind and that didn't work.  In manuals for other players it says that feature doesn't work for tracks being resumed from pause.

I don't see why the feature should be player specific, as rewinding would be contingent upon coming back from pause, not having the headphones plugged in.

In any case, the player functions in car mode, so why not have it as part of the car mode setting?  If power comes back the player should rewind a few seconds and then continue playback.

torne:
It's player specific because of what it currently means. There is not currently an option to rewind on unpause.

There are two related options: "Rewind before resume" works on all players, and controls what happens when playback is resumed from stop (including when powering on and resuming automatically). "Rewind duration" is a sub-option of "pause on headphone unplug", and thus only applies to players which have headphone detection, and it only affects automatic unpause triggered by headphone reinsertion. It's implemented this way because headphone detection is not necessarily instant; you may have missed some audio before Rockbox actually pauses playback, whereas currently we are assuming that if you hit pause manually you want to resume from that exact point when you unpause.

Car mode behaves like manual pausing/unpausing, so there's no special handling right now. It could be added, but I'm not sure that there is a sensible reason why it should be car mode specific; I guess you really just want rewind on unpause always?
