Cant uninstall from iriver h340

<< < (2/3) > >>

linuxstb:
We're simply saying that Rockbox isn't "insanely buggy" for other users on the h340, so something is likely wrong with either your device, or how you installed Rockbox - and these same problems are likely to be the reason the iriver firmware isn't able to perform an upgrade.

Have you checked the filesystem on your h340 for errors?  That could be the cause of the "big list of nonsensical files".

The player is fine and it has run since the day i bought it fine until i have recently installed rockbox.I instaleed it via the instructions with the rockbox utility but i dont know how to remove it?That is my problem. It is still trying to use the bootloader when i turn it on so i have to hold down the record button to get it to run the iriver firmware.I cant seem to get rid of rockbox, that was my original question and again any help is more than appreciated.Thank you

Would you please go back a step, take a deep breath and then think about it? I am trying to figure what's your problem. Basically, you just said "it doesn't work" in the first place (I'm exaggerating a bit here) which is the worst problem report one can get. So I'm asking about some things that I think can help me understand your issue. Unless I understand your issue I really can't help you, and for that reasons I'm asking questions that might be not what you were expecting. But you are the one looking for help, aren't you?

If I want to critizise I can come up with different stuff much easier: when writing, after each punctuation mark comes a space. Separate your thoughs in paragraphs. All those make it much easier to read, and people are much more likely to read your posts if it's easier to read. But did I come up with this? No. (well, not until now, but you kinda asked for it).

And seriously, while I do put quite some work in Rockbox I really don't care if you like it or not or if you want to keep it or not. I do like Rockbox and working on it is fun for me, and for this I'm not dependent on any user in any way. Of course it's nice to hear about people liking it, but I really don't need it. So I don't think your accusation is in place or helpful here.

separate my thoughs? critizise? Check your spellling my friend.Maybe you should read what you write before being so cocky towards others if that's the game you wish to play.
No accusation, and from what i tried of it,i did like it and if you took time to read my post instead of trying to be clever about punctuation and spelling and grammar and then go and make mistakes yourself, you would see that i said i wish to put it on my player and see if it would work but i first need to uninstall it.That was my original problem and the reason i asked for help. Not to be berated for my grammatical skills or lack thereof by someone who whilst pointing them out, obviously doesn't take the time to practice what he preaches.
And the word kinda?Should be kind of....well you did ask for it.
Seriously i really like your programme and appreciate people who do projects such as this so others can use it.All i asked for was how to remove it and i explained the problem earlier. It was still looking for the bootloader so Had to keep the record button down to get it to boot.
And as far as not being buggy...come on,why is there pages of bugs at the side of this forum?
Its to be expected with every program that gets developed, its nothing to be taken offence to and so protective about.Thank you once again for your help.I'm sure i will get there in the end.

No, your player isn't fine - the iriver firmware is refusing to install a new .hex file.  This is nothing to do with Rockbox.

Have you run chkdsk or similar to check the filesystem on your device?  Does the iriver firmware still work fine, including browsing and playing music files?

Is this the same H340 that you recently posted to these forums about changing the battery in?
