I'm pretty impressed with the mpegplayer plugin used with iPod 5.5G!

I'm pretty impressed with the mpegplayer plugin.
Ways mpegplayer is superior to the original ipod video firmware:
1. Better control of brightness
2. More accurate color
3. No scanning line look to the video
The fps (~10) is kind of low but for music videos the effect doesn't seem too bad.
I use the WinFF windows program and encode MPEG2 at 10fps 400kbps 320x240 and the MPEG turns out great. The allowing of 10fps for the encoded video really helps in keeping the flow of the video smooth and not nearly as jerky as a 30fps would result in (even with the fps limit and skip).
The mpegplayer is set to limit fps and skip frames and the sound stays in sync.
The better the source before conversion to MPEG2 results in a better looking video.
Great job!

As a note, the ipod video is the worst target for video playback - the combination of a big screen and slow processor makes for a low framerate. Others are much better :)

Kind of ironic the iPod Video is the worst, but it isn't too bad -- again, enjoyable in my opinion for music videos. Might be less so for movies.
