Creative ZEN alike?

The Gigabeat F is as good (barring the requirement for physical buttons - it has a 4-way cross touch strip instead that works *like* buttons but technically isn't and has no movement) and the Gigabeat S is better in almost every way. The Rockbox build is *nearly* stable (the main reason it's not listed as a stable port is that the single boot install is known to occasionally trigger a glitch in the flash loader code that requests a reinstall/reformat, while the dual boot install is fine but harder to perform).

I appreciate making a listing on "current availability" is quite ambitious :) Perhaps beter is a different criterion that covers recent non-seens like this Gigabeat X. E.g. "Recently available", "Probably available". But no matter.

Good to know - thanks.

Researching some more, I find the Creative ZEN is apparently the only non-iPod having a large screen and flash. I guess since large screen usually means video and flash means not much video :) , I'm rare in wanting both.

I use four Creative ZENs for DJing and am suffering greatly with MTP, there being no MSC. I would also like custom player functionality. Hence my interest in Rockbox, even if it takes a couple of years for the right port+device to arrive.

Thanks. I don't have the knowledge of the status of all those players, but when I do know something useful :) I will add it.
