Problems Reconnecting iPod to laptops
(1/1)
h.finn:
Sorry about the "bizarre" title.
I meant this:
after installing R. on my old mini (never had problems before) it is now not recognized by one of my laptops at home.
I explain: I installed R. at work.
Took it home and connected to one laptop (ibm thinkpad).....no problem.
The other (same model and brand) just says the usb is connected to an unknown device and can't be recognized...or something very much like it.
Hard reset does not help.
The only way I can get it to work on this thinkpad: move the ipod to another computer, reset it through itunes and move it back to the thinkpad. If I then try to reinstall R. using this Thinkpad....it straightaway doesn't recognize the ipod anymore!!!
Wouldn't be such a problem if not for the fact that this laptop has a very good audio card!! ;)
Any idea guys?
Thanks!
H.
Chronon:
Since these are Rockbox forums I would presume that you are using R to represent Rockbox. However, there is a statistics package of that name, so it's best to avoid confusion and just type the name out.
Are there differences in OS configuration on the two laptops? What version of Rockbox have you been installing?
As a workaround, you can boot into Apple's firmware or their emergency disk mode without removing Rockbox, according to instructions that you can find in the manual (the Quick Start chapter). I can't really say much more without further information.
