[Workaround] Show both music and video files in file browsing mode on iPod 5.5g?
(1/1)
TexasRockbox:
Hello,
Is there any place in the settings (I searched the forum and manual) to enable to show only music and video files while in file browsing mode?
I see settings for all, Music, all supported but no way to configure "music and video".
The inquiry is because I use album art (.jpg). If I select all or all supported, I see the .jpg covers in my music directory. If I select music, the video file can't be seen. If I rename the video file to .mp3 then the video doesn't play.
If a custom build is needed to modify the displayed files, I can build it -- any tips as to which file needs to be changed?
Thank you for your time!
Update: St.'s idea works fine. Album Art is displayed on the WPS but doesn't appear in the file browsing. Only a minuscule amount of extra maintenance when transferring files. Since the change can be performed at the subdirectory/file level, photo .jpgs in a separate subdir will remain unaffected.

TexasRockbox,
I had a little thought about this, and I believe I have come up with a solution that will suit your needs...
If the only .jpg files on your device are for the AA (which is likely, but not guaranteed) just do a search of your device (using your PC) for ".jpg", then bulk select them and change the file attribute to "Hidden".
This *should* stop them from being displayed when in the view mode "supported", I use this same trick myself to stop the iPods OF directories (Notes, iPod_Control etc.) from showing up in the file browser and it works fine for me.
I noticed this wee trick because I just drag & drop my albums straight out of my WMP library, and WMP uses the same naming convention (Folder.jpg) for its AA, but it is a hidden and system file.
I Hope this helps,

That sounds like a great idea. I'll try it! Easy to do and undo. I'll update with results.

Thank you very much St.
