car adapter mode offset to resume playback earlier than where it stopped
« on: April 20, 2010, 06:04:19 PM »
When car adapter mode is on and playback resumes, have an offset variable which allows playback to resume a few seconds earlier than where it stopped.

When I remove power from the device it takes a couple seconds for the song to fade out.  Then when it starts again it starts from the point where the fade out completed.  I lose those two seconds.

It would be nice if i could get in the car and have the book resume from a few seconds earlier than where it left off.

I'd also like to be able to change the time of delay before it resumes playback.  I believe it is currently hard coded at 5 seconds.

You can disable the fade on stop. And there's also a rewind function specifically for "pause on headphone unplug." You should be able to find both of these in the manual. It's a bit frustrating to see requests for features that actually exist.

The delay before playback is resumed is far less than 5 seconds. It's less than one second on my player. It's possible that your player is shutting down in the interim period, and the 5 seconds is the time it takes to boot and resume playback (which nothing can be done about other than disabling the shutdown of your player).

Great, I thought there should be a way to make it do what I wanted.

The manual clearly states that car adapter mode delays playback start for 5 seconds.

Great so the feature I want is already there as a variable in the config file.  Why not make it settable from the car adapter mode page?

Anyway seriously thanks for the software.  I'm gonna see about writing in the manual about that variable in the car adapter mode section.

Sorry, it's my fault for misreading what you wanted actually. That and car adapter mode working differently depending on the model (you didn't mention which player you had, so I don't even know what conditions you're using it under).
