PDF installed on I-POD ver PDF fron the site
« on: April 18, 2010, 10:37:57 AM »
I'm a newbie to this software. I got my first I-POD at an auction at Goodwill its a Mini kinda old but it was cheap.( I'm 51 yo) only two weeks ago and I am not a fan of I-Tunes so this for me is a God send. I finally decided to try it and I'm learning. Just one small gripe the pdf from the site is missing one small bit of info at least in my case 3.3 USB Charging
The player can be charged over USB without connecting to your computer by holding
Menu while plugging in. This allows you to continue using the player normally. This is missing from the pdf on the site. It drove me nutty for a min. but hey I'm old but it may help someone else. hope I put this in the right place. ;D

Some of the ipods don't charge in Rockbox, so that section is probably omitted on purpose.

Some versions of Rockbox reboot into the Apple firmware for USB since they don't charge (and mounting a disk in USB mode without charging will drain the battery very quickly).

Thanks for the response ;D I'm sitting here going tru all the settings and just playing with it :P. now I'm going to attempt to put some music on it. It is staying in the mode now it was probably me ;D. believe me I'm having a hard time understanding how to do it. Will it show up as a device in wmp 11?

WMP might work (never tried it, myself).  It will show up in My Computer as a removable drive and you can just drag and drop files/folders if other methods don't work.

I still had some music on it from I-Tunes it has found it. I'm working on getting used to how it works and want to know if it will work the same in my Scion. It's just a lot of stuff to work with and I guess if the files I drop are in the root it's ok. I dripped a file on it and it seems it's the the only one I can get to play. still workin my tongue I'll get it!! :P

There is quite a lot of information in the manual to get you going.  If you have files you synced with iTunes that you would like to play (and they don't have DRM) then you will probably want to use the database to access them since iTunes likes to use a bizarre file naming scheme.
