Lowest priced player with stable port?
« on: April 16, 2010, 03:58:10 PM »
Hello,

I've known about Rockbox for quite some time and think it's about time to get a decent portable music player. What is the cheapest mp3 player, with a stable port that is available? I'm preferably looking for something with fairly decent storage capacity, ie. 16-32+ GB.

Thanks!

SanDisk's players seem to be the most affordable.

The 4/8GB internal memory of the Fuze is expandable with a microSD card. I have a 16GB card, works a treat. This site sells v1s in the US with Rockbox (and talk files) preinstalled http://www.talkingmp3players.com/sansa-fuze.html

Here's the front page: http://www.talkingmp3players.com/index.html

It looks like they sell e200 and Fuze v1.

I bought one of these from Amazon and RockBox works fine on it.  It's only $18.82.

You could also try smaller resellers on eBay or elsewhere and ask them to check the firmware version for you to make sure RockBox will work.

I also bought an 8GB micro-SD on Ebay for $11.99 plus $5.50 shipping to make use of the micro-SD slot on the Sansa C250.

All together with tax and shipping it comes to around $38
