iPod 3rd Gen Install: black screen...

(1/2) > >>

Illumina:
I hope this is in the correct forum, since I'm not sure whether the Rockbox Utility is related to my issue or not.

Here's the story: I used the Rockbox Utility to install to an iPod 3rd gen (followed all instructions successfully), and I (sort of) saw the spash logo as Rockbox loaded, except that the screen is totally black surrounded by a white border: by tilting the screen at an extreme angle, I can just barely see icons, but clearly there's a problem here.

Any suggestions?

saratoga:
I think the issue is that different 3Gs have different contrast scales, so on some the default contrast is way off.  Try changing it (you may have to edit the config file if you can't read it).

Illumina:
Ok, which specific config file do I edit, and which entry? I definitely can't read it well enough to do it via the screen.

saratoga:
The config file in your .rockbox folder.  I don't know which setting you need to edit, but its probably one of these:

I don't have that entry in my config file. I added it manually and set it to 999, but that didn't do anything. Is there any other way to change the brightness?
