Sansa Fuze update?!!?
« on: April 11, 2010, 12:18:37 AM »
I recently updated Fuze's OF from 1.02.26 to 01.02.31, the latter being, in my experience, a bit more  stable (a lot, actually).

The catch is, I tried to patch ".31" OF with RB bootloader, but both rbinstall and mkamsboot exited complaining about unknown firmware, suggesting firmware for c200 (!?).

I am aware that the procedure calls for the ".26" version, so I half-expected this to happen, but wanted to try anyway.

I wonder, is there a workaround?
Will there be an update to the patching procedure any time soon, or should I revert to the "ugly" .26 OF version?

Thank you for your help.

If you use Rockbox Utility it will detect supported players. http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/RockboxUtility

If you pose a question that has not been answered satisfactorily once, do you really thin you will get a better reply by repeating your question an doing a quick copy-paste from the wiki?
In order for someone to help you, please clarify, what version of windows you are on. If you have already tried to use rockbox-utility and failed, please state, at what point. And lastly, is there a strong reason you want to use the 31 firmware version instead of the well-testet 26? If you make a bit of an effort yourself, it is more likely someone will take the time and anwer your question.

Please provide some more information if you would like further advice.

It would be nice if you would address some questions biengo asked.

You didn't mention which version of rbutil you used, but probably you just need to use a newer version.  If the newest doesn't work for you, then you may need to compile one from SVN.

Ok, so you sent me a personal note instead of answering in the thread. It would have been easier for all of us, if you had just posted the answer in the forum.
According to your email, you're on vista and rbutil (which version though? the released one is 1.2.5) crashed.
I'm not absolutely sure that you can not patch a .31 firmware with the released version of mkamsboot, so you may try to do a manual install following instructions here with a .31 firmware:
http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SansaAMS go to manual install -> fuze v1
If that fails, you need to compile mkamsboot, but run the risk of bricking your fuze with a less tested binary.
edit: The manual install allows to patch OF V.01.02.31 without a problem, just follow the wiki.
