ZStamm:
Bought a  new Sansa e260v2, and tried installing rockbox using the automated rockbox installer under windows 7 (64-bit).  It did not seem to do anything.  Then I tried the manual install using the instructions posted.  The only change I made was that I used the American firmware instead of the European firmware.  After I did that, I get an error when I boot the player.
cannot load rockbox.mi4:
file not found

The player then boots with the sansa firmware.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

saratoga:
You have an e200v1, not an e200v2.   Install the correct build and it should work.

ZStamm:
well, it says model: e260v2 right on the back of the device, so I do not think that that is the problem, and when I try using the automated installer telling it that it is a v1, it says that it is the wrong device.

Wait, nevermind.  I just found out that some of the e200 series that say they are v2 on the case are actually v1.  This would be a good thing to put on the sansa FAQ, because this really confused me.

Its a wiki you can edit it.  However the manual does tell you how to figure out the version at the start of the install directions.
