oma and rm(atrac) sounds strange on iriver H120!

I update my h120 to the latest build r25406, the oma and rm runs well on it. But the sound seems to be strange like it's mono or something. Is it a bug?

And another question is the rb 3.5 takes more time to boot than 3.4 on my h120. Anyone know what is the problem?

I'm not sure what could be distorting your sound, but the slow boot issue might be fixed by resetting your settings to their defaults (you may want to back your existing settings up first by going to Settings -> Manage Settings -> Save .cfg File, resetting can be done either by Reset Settings under Manage Settings, or by deleting the config.cfg file manually on your computer from the .rockbox folder on your h120) and seeing if that helps.

Did it ever work correctly?  It could be that one of the recent optimizations broke something.  I recall several mentioned stereo specifically.

Did the same files sound different with older rockbox revisions? If so, can you try to narrow down to the revision or build that first shows this?

Saratoga, the stereo related changes fixed decoding of joint stereo material -- which was faulty (=crackling noise) on 50% of the files I had. I don't think that this is the case here...

For the boot time slow down problem, in fact the latest build boots quite normal on my H120, it takes the same time to boot as rb 3.4 as i haven't change or reset anything.

For the atrac playback on H120 problem, i have tried this codec in my last post here: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=22932.msg157118#msg157118
But i can't remember the build version i used last time. The last time i try it sounds good but some gap came out in random place. This time the gap's gone, but the sound goes bad.

I did not use the same song from the last time. I encode several songs my self with SonicStage 4.3 and realproducer plus. In SS 4.3, i choose 132k atrac3 as the encoder and both 320k and 264k in realproducer plus.

Try playing the same track in both versions and see if theres a difference (other then drop outs due to performance issues).

Last night, i tried both latest build (r25422)and a previous build (r24315). The same song was tested. Here is the song link http://samples.mplayerhq.hu/real/AC-atrc/KingOfTheJailhouse.rm

The latest build still sounds mono while the previous sounds very normal but with gaps or pause come out.

Can you try to track down the change that made this happen? There were lots of changes beyond rr24315 in the atrac deocder starting with r24641.
