Custom backgrounds using rockbox theme
« on: March 23, 2010, 12:29:13 PM »
Hi guys

Just me again asking a question that should be easy but I struggle.

I have downloaded several pics to my player, (ipod video 320x240 bmp). What I want to do is by setting the Rockbox default theme (the boring one with a basic screen) is to have them as the backdrop for both the menu and while playing screen. Using the current release this works fine but I have started using the daily builds and it doesn't work properly. The backdrop sets fine but on the menu screen the text colour won't change and when you go to the while playing screen there is no backdrop but the backround and foreground colours are correct. Why is there a difference between the two?

I not clever enough to create my own WPS and themes so this is the next best thing for me so I am happy to stick with 3.5.1 to make it work but hope that the same thing will be possible when 3.6 will be released. I suppose what I'm asking is why is this available to do in the official release but not the daily builds?

Because it's not really a feature, just a side effect of how themeing worked back then.

Simply put, your best bet is to learn how to make themes. It may seem intimidating at first but if you just experiment a little bit and even just put in about an hour to actually try to learn it, you'll find it's really very easy.
