Conditional cfg files

I was thinking about how to make my RB'd players more effecient, and this idea came to mind.

what if the player would change the cfg file (user settings) currently being used depending on certain conditions, for example

time (screen dims, volume is decreased, screen is turned off quicker)
battery (screen dims, screen turns off quicker, hardrive spindown (if applicable) is decreased)

just shootin the idea out there to be subject to (constructive) criticism :)
