Cutting intros in crossfade mode
« on: March 16, 2010, 12:13:44 PM »
Hi,
I think I've made clear elsewhere what a wonderful feature crossfade is IMO!
Still what I miss (apart from beat matching) is the option to cut lengthy intros - that is to start the follow-up song somewhere
at e.g. 60 or 90 seconds into this song instead of fading it in from the very start.
Particularly House music tracks often take 1 minute or more "to get going" after an intro that's mostly percussion. It can be a real party killer to play out these tracks in full length.
Likewise I'd appreciate if outros could be cut somewhat more than the 15 seconds available now (which means that I can start fade out of the preceeding song only 15 seconds before its "natural" end).

Greetings,
Tom

How would this work?  Have an option to cut every song down by 60 seconds?

Sorry, just saw too late I posted on this before and started a new thread.
How would this work? Well, why not offer a cut off option for intros and outros in the cross-fade menu.
To date crossfade allows me to choose how many seconds before the end of a song to start fade in of the next song.
If I could choose start fade-in up to 120 seconds before the end of the current song and finish the crossfade in  - let me say - 15 seconds - this means the last 105 seconds of the current song's outro could be cut out.
Likewise, if I could start the next song not with the first note but someplace like up to 120 seconds into it, I could do without the boring tk-ch, tk-ch, tk-ch of drums and intro before the song really gets going.
If you listen to full length house mixes you will know what I mean - if you listen to Beetoven only, you will probably not.
Cheers, Thomas
