Broken e280?

Hi,

My Sansa e280 refuses to turn on properly. All I get is the blue ring. Tried resetting by pressing the power button but the problem persists. Tried entering recovering mode and manufacturing mode and still no luck, as the computer doesn't see any USB device plugged on.

Any idea?

manufacturing mode + linux + e200tool are your best bet.

Also, make sure that the flash memory daughter card hasn't come loose.

I'd guess at the memory daughter board having come unseated too. This is trivial to fix, provided you have the correct screwdriver. You just unscrew the player, remove the back and re-seat the memory chip.
I'd recommend that as the first step as that may fix the problem without having to resort to manufacturing mode. Although if it doesn't then that's the next thing to try.
