some WPS work only with small fonts (10) the system itself is more comfortable to use with bigger fonts (14-16)

multi-font is supported.
here is the wps code/info for use.
here is a thread on it.
how creative you get with it is up to you.

i will try it on the wps screens - but i can't 'patch' my rockbox-build - theres just text no patch files working with windows???

originally it was, but that feature/patch has been committed, so you can ignore that parts about patching.
