Possible to play zips and rars with music in them?

Would kind of defeat the purpose of useability if you could only use TAR's! Be even more of a pain converting normal zips and rars to TARs wouldnt it?  ;D

"TAR style archives that don't use compression" not "TAR and nothing else".

I think the main point here is not which format to use, but just that it is a lot of work for negligible gain.
