Does rockbox run on any current players?
« on: March 08, 2010, 06:10:40 PM »
So my Cowon x5 just bought the farm and I was wondering if there is still a rockbox supporting player out there that I can buy new. Going through the list of supported players it looks like the answer would be no.

It's very unlikely you'd be able to find any of the supported players new anymore, and none of the newer players are currently supported, though some work is being done to try to get Rockbox running on the iPod Classic and similar generation iPods.

If you really want a new player to run Rockbox on you're kinda out of luck, your only option right now really would be to settle for a used player that is supported if you really want to use Rockbox.

I like the iPod Video 5.5g.  It runs well, has good sound and there are parts aplenty.

Basically, one could take the most beat up iPod video 5.5G and make it look and work like new.
