Update H120's hard disk, which one should I use?

(1/1)

xman099:
I am going to update my H120 to 80GB. With a zif to cf converter, I find there are two kinds of hard disk can be used in H120: Toshiba MK8025GAL and Samsung HS082HB.

And I find these data on their website:

MK8025GAL

Seek    1.1W (typ.)
Read/Write    1.0W (typ.)
Low power Idle    0.3W (typ.)
Stand-by    0.12W (typ.)
Sleep    0.07W (typ.)

HS082HB

Seek (typical)    0.8 W
Read/Write (typical)    0.9 W
Idle (typical)    0.30 W
Standby (typical)    0.07 W
Sleep (typical)    0.07 W

Does this mean if we use HS082HB, H120 would get a longer playtime?

Could anyone give me some advice? Thanks.

pwhodges:
I have a Samsung 120GB in an H340, and it gives very much slower performance than the equivalent Toshiba that I also have.

xman099:
Thank you, Paul.

What about the difference of playtime(runtime)?

pwhodges:
I haven't measured it, but it hasn't been a problem for me.  But the slower disk presumably has to run for a bit longer when buffering, so there would be some effect (the buffering is still enough for playback to be unaffected).  The main observable effect is that it takes much longer to copy stuff onto the disk initially.
