WAV problem with new Rockbox build
« on: March 07, 2010, 05:04:06 AM »
Dear all,
I just upgraded to Rockbox 3.5.1 from 3.4 on my 80GB Video iPod.  Initially, I had a problem with the Rockbox utility as it had the 64MB file....fortunately, one of the developers put up a 32MB version which worked (or so I thought).

MP3 and FLAC files play absolutely fine....however, WAV files do not - I just here a bit of hiss and that's about it.

Would greatly appreciate any solutions.

Oh, by the way, I installed v3.5.1 on my older 3G iPod (40GB black and white screen) using the Rockbox utility software - no problems whatsoever with any music file.

I assume that 3.4 worked fine?  And that these are just standard wav files?

Oh yes, version 3.4 worked perfectly fine.  In fact, I'd be happy to reinstall version 3.4 on my 80GB video iPod if I could find a link to it (I can't).  If its not too much trouble, could you please send me a file link for version 3.4 (32MB build for iPod Video 60/80GB).

Many thanks again

You could reinstall 3.4, but it'd be nice to try and fix the problem :)

Could you open a bug report (see link on the left, you'll need to sign up for flyspray).  Try to include as many details as possible, details of player, versions, wav file details etc.  Thanks.

Certainly!  I have now added it to the Flyspray "tasks".  Thanks much for the link for the older version of Rockbox.  I'm still a fan of the software though - beats the pants off the stock software on an iPod!

One more thing to try would be to check the filesystem. There's no direct link between a (slightly) corrupted filesystem to what you're seeing, but we've seen filesystem corruption cause just about any kind of issue you can imagine.
