ipod mini 2nd/apple remote А1018

Hi, i have apple А1018 remote which does not work with rockboxed ipod mini 2G. here (http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/9951) one can find some mentioning about the need to enable serial on mini and principal possibility of it as HW is same as ipod 4G. can anybody share some details on how difficult it is and where it can be done ?

But keep in mind that it might not work and possibly be dangerous for your player.

As far as I know, nobody tried it.

thanks for the link. and what is the risk ? bricking the player ?
