Hi,
I'm not sure if it's the right section, so move me if not. My first post after all.
I've installed rockbox version r23603-091110 on my iPod Nano 2G following
http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/IPodNano2GPort.
I couldn't access the device connect to a USB port while the USB Mode was set to anything than "Browser" and USB HID was off. Everything else seemed fine, I've transferred some music, but while browsing through the internal menus (can't remember which exactly) the device rebooted to that annoying "Restore using iTunes" screen. So I restored using iTunes and installed rockbox again, transferred some music and started using the iPod normaly (playing music, trying out every possible demo app etc) for a few days. Then, after fully charging it, I've ran the battery benchmark, which apparently succeeded after some time. But when I've connected the device to my PC just to charge it and see the benchmark results I was again back in the "Restore with iTunes" mode.
What I tried:
1) Accessed the diagnostic mode, everything checks fine to me. Except the status register info which I can't understand, the DeepSleep and HID tests which causes the device to reboot (maybe it's normal) and the ACCSwitch test which, again, I'm not sure what it is for.
2) The iPod is recognized in the Device Manager as an 2 GB Apple Ipod USB Device under Disk Drives in either Restore, Diagnostic or Disk mode.
3) Using HxD and iBored I've found the disk drive is correct in size but completely empty (I'm not sure if the method I've used is correct).
Could someone please shed some light on it? I have that non working iPod by my side and could live whitout music for a week or so while carrying out any kind of tests required.
Thanks in advance.
