Sansa Fuze - Ultra short battery life :/
« on: February 28, 2010, 12:00:20 PM »
hello everyone,

i recently have installed rockbox 3.5 on my fuze, and sticked with it for a week before i was forced to return to OF. Reason : very short battery life. I consumes about 2% per song! And when it reaches 40%, it takes like 20 minutes to deain out completely :/

I tried lowering down the screen brightness, turning off the wheel light, no effect. I was listening at -35Db, no cross feed, no nothing... And still it consumed battery like a mad man. I have no idea why...

When i returned to OF, everything was fine. I really miss rockbox, especially because of it's last.fm support, but charginf the battery everyday is such a pain in  the ass.

Can anyone help me?

Regards,
Sadzior

How long does it last?  The wiki says 12 hours is normal.

i'd say that 6 hours at most, no playing games or other things. That's disturbing...

I have no idea why it would be so short.  Try running the battery bench over night, and if its really that short post the logs in a bug report.

4 months after 3.5 (hopefully to the day).

You're assuming that 3.6 will have a fix.  Seeing as you seem to get a lot less battery life than other people, it would probably be best to try and investigate the problem, not just wait and hope.

i know, but i tried googling that case dozens of times, no one knows what the hell is wrong. Maybe the last.fm plug in consumes so much battery? :/

You should run a battery bench and post the resulting battery_bench.txt here

i don't see the point, i already know that it takes about 1-2 % per song on rockbox. however, on OF i get like 16 hours of playback

thanks!

also what is the codecs in your songs? If it's intensive on CPU (APE is very intensive, FLAC might be), then it would be normal to have less battery life than others (who have less battery life than the OF already)

i listen mostly to mp3s, bitrate varies from 192 kbit/s to 320 kbit/s. No oggs or flacs here. I am installing rockbox as we speak, i also want to let it fully charge (by fully i mean to 95 , dunno why it's max for it) and later ill post my battery bench result.

Really appreciate your will to help bro, people like you are pure gold
