We don't have an SV8 decoder, but in theory someone could add one eventually.

Thanks kind of thought the answer was no as sv8 is new. I have some compiling experiences using Linux but have no idea how hard it would be to compile something for rockbox like a codex  ???

It would take a reasonable amount of programming to do.  You don't actually need to know much of anything about compiling though.  Just reading the changes between the SV7 and SV8 decoders and reimplementing them in rockbox.

Please see  FS#11079. With this patch sv8 is supported in rockbox -- though there is further testing and optimization needed.

The current builds should now have SV8 support.  It appears that Buschel committed the patch on Sunday.

I used foobar 2000 and made a mpc file using sv8 and it will not play back using rockbox version 3.5.1 . It refuses too play sv8 files it makes an attempt to load the file then just goes back to the directory. How would i use this patch and make it work?

You're using a 3 month old build, it doesn't have features added this month.  Update to something newer.

So I should use a current build and not the released version thank you for you're help. One other thing is transferring files in multimedia mode still unstable or should i just use the ipod disk mode?

A spacial thanks too the rockbox dev team been awaiting for sv8 playback for along time thank you all :)
